Trying to simplify art, I observed and analyzed this figure for about five minutes. I saw that one S curve could express the whole contraposto in one stroke. Only then did I pick up a brush and mix paint. With the wet brush I then gestured this stroke in the air many times, until I felt the feel of the motions was right, before I put it to paper. This painting is done with only 20 brushstrokes.
