Yearning for Ascension Machine

$2,000.00

An 18th century Lord was depressed by being confined to a wheelchair. On hearing in church that “if you lift up your hearts you shall see heaven” he became convinced he could power his machine by "heart-lifting".  He had the full size machine built with a heart shape that he could lift. He was indeed transported to a better life yet the machine fell away from him as he was enlightened of its weight.

The meaning of “metaphor” is this: what lifts ones mood is not really the system you use, but one's own heartfelt yearning.

Also my sculpture is an allegory that religions guide people to self realization, but the person has to take the leap on their own, leaving the system behind or else it can become a limitation.
